Back to the basics.  Keep your eye on Baltic Dry shipping rates.  the BDIY tracks the shipping rates for dry goods.  Important basic commodities.  Grain, coal, ore, steel coils and cement. The basic building blocks of the world economies.  The index provides and average of the shipping cost for these dry goods across 20 different routes.

52 weeks ago, the index was at $2500+.  Today it is $689.  The first 3 weeks of January it has dropped 33%. But don't worry everything is running wonderfully.  Once again, if you are looking around, you will see what is happening and be prepared.

The economy is not the stock market, but that is what people think.  The consequences are high when this is the basis for the state of the economy.  Keeping an eye out on theses simple indicators tells you where we are at. It also brings into better focus the Feds QE4 that they don't admit is QE4, but are admit QE4 has begun.

Crazy ride, but stick to the basics and who is actually performing, all will be well.  But there are not many out there.
